How to Prepare Aptamil® Stage 2 (Usage Instructions):

Your baby's health depends on carefully following these instructions. Failure to do so may make your baby ill, as powdered formula is not sterile.

1. Wash & Sterilise: Wash your hands thoroughly. Sterilise all feeding utensils (bottle/beaker, teat, cap) according to the manufacturer's instructions (e.g., boiling for 5 minutes or using an approved steriliser).
2. Boil Water: Boil 1 litre of fresh run water (do not use artificially softened or repeatedly boiled water).
3. Cool Water: Leave the kettle to cool for exactly 30 minutes (no longer) to reach the recommended temperature (approx. 70°C). Be careful of scalding.
4. Measure Water: Refer to the feeding guide on the Aptamil tin. Pour the precise amount of cooled boiled water into the sterilised bottle or beaker.
5. Measure Powder: Use only the scoop provided in the tin. Level off the powder using the built-in leveller inside the pack. Do not press or heap the powder.
6. Add Powder: Add the correct number of level scoops to the water, as indicated in the feeding guide. Adding too many or too few scoops can be harmful.
7. Mix Thoroughly: Place the sterilised teat and cap (or beaker lid) on the bottle/beaker. Shake immediately, vertically, and vigorously for at least 10 seconds, until the powder is completely dissolved. (Rolling the bottle or shaking in circles is not sufficient).
8. Cool & Test Temperature: Cool the feed quickly by holding the bottle/beaker under a running cold tap or placing it in a bowl of cold water. Check the temperature by dripping a few drops onto the inside of your wrist. It should feel lukewarm (approx. 37°C), not hot.
9. Feed Immediately: Give the feed to your baby straight away.

Important Feeding & Storage Advice:

• Make up each feed as required.
• Discard unfinished feeds within 2 hours. Never reheat or store made-up feeds.
• Never add extra scoops or anything else to your baby's feed.
• Do not heat feeds in a microwave, as hot spots can occur and cause scalding.
• Never leave your baby alone during feeding.
• Store the powder tin in a cool, dry place (do not refrigerate).
• Use powder within 4 weeks of opening the tin.
• Check the scoop is stored safely in the lid holder and the lid is clicked shut to maintain freshness.

Important Notice for Parents in Pakistan:

Breastfeeding is best for babies. Aptamil® Follow On Milk Stage 2 is intended for babies over 6 months as part of a mixed weaning diet and should not be used as a breast milk substitute before 6 months. The decision to start weaning, or to use this product before 6 months, should only be made on the advice of a doctor, midwife, health visitor, or other qualified health professional based on your baby's specific growth and development needs. Ensure your baby's teeth are cleaned after the last feed at night to prevent tooth decay.
